We know, the babies are soooo cute, but we remain one of the 7 people on Earth who doesn’t like the eTrade baby commercials. Our beef – eTrade is an NFA member and offers futures trading, just like us. But unlike us, they are allowed to run an ad reaching millions of people without the disclaimers required by the NFA for its members.

The chief beef, you are not allowed to say (or imply) that futures trading is suitable for everyone.  Check it yourself here: Compliance Rule 2-29. But eTrade is essentially saying “Trading is so easy with us, even a baby can do it’. In their latest edition during last night’s superbowl, the message was more of… ‘relax, don’t worry about how you’re going to pay for hundredss of thousands of dollars in child rearing expenses – just call the ‘pros’ at etrade, and “they’ll hook you up with a solid plan”.

We think the etrade baby is more apt to be like this guy in the College Humor remake of the commercials.
