This week witnessed the first official day of summer and some sizzling “Heat” waves across the US (please Mr. Rose, get that knee in playing shape for next year), but the markets were mostly fizzling. European uncertainty, like that cold that you just can’t shake, continued to plague anxious investors, prodded along by weak economic reports on unemployment and China. With more data, and inevitable European hijinx, on the schedule for next week, the odds of this summer being much different from last summer continue to shrink. But it’s the weekend- so while you drink a cold beer on the train home, here are a couple of reads to keep you entertained… along with a picture of Merkel freaking the hell out (at least she has SOMETHING to cheer about).
