Weekend Reads

We were glued to our TV screens this week as we watched NFA President Dan Roth’s testimony to the House Ag. Committee (which we thought could have been better). The markets also gave us reason to watch closely, as the latter half the week saw one of the strongest 3-day rallies in the stock market we’ve seen all year, and the grain markets finally taking a breather from this month’s soaring prices. Here’s what we’re reading headed into the weekend (and with the Olympics gearing up, we couldn’t help but throw some of our favorite Olympics-related reads in as well):

  • Rick Santelli goes after CFTC Commissioner O’Malia over the Peregrine scandal (CNBC)
  • Peregrine trustee hires forensic accountants to track down missing money (CNBC)
  • Great set of charts and info on the gold market (Business Insider via Scribd)
  • Precious metals prices make this year’s Olympic medals the priciest ever (CNBC)
  • When Olympic marathoners took strychnine, raw eggs, and bourbon (LAT)
  • When you could win an Olympic medal for art (Smithsonian)
