Weekend Reads

While all eyes were on earnings reports this week (with some disappointing results), self-made media sideshow Donald Trump was surprising no one with his October surprise. Apple, on the other hand, surprised plenty with its larger-than-usual product rollout, and the final debate gave us our final, irrelevant, out of context sound bite: horses and bayonets. On the commodities, side, metals joined stocks in the downward slide as tensions between miners and mining companies in South Africa continued to wane. Less than two weeks left before election 2014 kicks off, but in the meantime, here’s what we’re reading headed into the weekend.

  • A minimum two-year time horizon is essential for managed futures investments (InvestmentNews)
  • Young blood might make you smarter… literally (Discover Magazine)
  • How much is your vote worth? Based on campaign spending, about $10 (CNBC)
  • Your chances of surviving cardiac arrest are higher in wealthy neighborhoods (Los Angeles Times)

And just for fun…

  • Obama and Romney duking it out as diapered babies (StuffIStoleFromtheInternet)
  • A juggling routine like none we’ve ever seen before (i09)
  • A house that’s fit only for the fit… and skinny (Newser)
