Our newsletter for the week is up, and this time around, we’re taking a break from our traditional analysis to pay tribute to Ms. Barbara Mueller- an institution in the industry who is heading into retirement. It has been an honor to work with someone as knowledgeable, talented and motivated as Barbara, and here she provides us with her (often comical) insight from 37 years of experience in the world of futures trading.
When Ms. Mueller started in the futures industry 37 years ago, there were no personal computers, no stock index futures, no NFA or CFTC, and gold was trading at $135 an ounce. Meanwhile, the whole managed futures industry was still an embryo, with Richard Dennis not teaching his Turtles until 1983 and Paul Tudor Jones still a clerk on the trading floor.
Managed Futures have come a long way since then, and so has Ms. Mueller, who will be retiring at the end of March after nearly four decades of dealing with futures trading. The lessons she outlines here are invaluable, thought-provoking, and a must read for anyone serious about futures trading.
